In every Arab city, there is an initiative making a difference, a small idea growing into meaningful change, and young people working quietly to build a more sustainable future. Yet many of these efforts remain unseen because no one has told their stories or connected them with a wider audience.

At a time when climate challenges are intensifying worldwide and particularly across the Arab region the need for media that places people at the heart of the story has never been greater.

Equally important is journalism that highlights practical solutions as much as it reports on the scale of the challenges.

Against this backdrop, Green in Arabic has partnered with Climate School, an Arab media platform dedicated to strengthening climate journalism across the region to give young Arab voices the opportunity to drive change within their communities through the Green Stories competition.

The initiative provides university students across the Arab world with a platform to tell compelling human stories that showcase practical and locally driven climate solutions.

A Strategic Partnership

The partnership is built on a shared vision: addressing climate change requires transforming knowledge and local solutions into compelling human stories capable of inspiring people and creating lasting impact.

Climate School is committed to developing a new generation of journalists specializing in climate reporting by equipping them with the storytelling skills needed to produce impactful climate journalism and communicate scientific knowledge in an engaging and accessible way.

At the same time, Green in Arabic leverages its expertise in digital content creation to raise awareness of the Green Stories competition and transform its outcomes into regional content and local success stories capable of supporting climate action across the Arab world.

Drawing on its experience in simplifying climate knowledge and highlighting youth-led initiatives, Green in Arabic also works to expand the reach of Climate School's programs, connecting them with wider Arab audiences and communities.

The media partnership between the two organizations reflects international recommendations emphasizing that training journalists in climate storytelling contributes to producing influential content that supports environmental policies and strengthens communities' capacity to adapt to climate change.

It also mirrors successful international models that advocate integrating professional training with media platforms and communication tools to increase public engagement and raise climate awareness.

Green Stories: When Stories Become Solutions

While scientific data and statistics remain essential, human stories continue to be the most powerful way to connect with people, transforming climate change from an abstract concept into a tangible reality.

Driven by this belief, Climate School launched the Green Stories competition for university students across the Arab world, inviting submissions of original human-interest stories highlighting innovative environmental initiatives, renewable energy, recycling, sustainable agriculture, climate adaptation, and youth-led ideas that benefit both people and the environment.

Winners will receive free professional training in climate journalism provided by Climate School, in addition to mentorship and career development opportunities in journalism and climate communication. Selected stories will also be published on both the Climate School platform and Green in Arabic.

Climate School: Advancing Climate Journalism Across the Arab World

Since its launch in July 2021, Climate School has been providing advanced Arabic-language media training and educational resources aimed at strengthening climate journalism throughout the Middle East and North Africa. The initiative creates opportunities for journalists and climate enthusiasts alike to enhance both their journalistic and environmental expertise.

Throughout its journey, Climate School has delivered more than 80 training sessions, engaging approximately 2,300 participants from nearly 20 countries.

The future of climate action in the Arab region cannot be discussed without recognizing the role of young people. The Arab world is home to approximately 110 million young women and men between the ages of 15 and 29, representing nearly 30% of the region's population making them the largest force capable of leading the transition toward a more sustainable future.

Through Green Stories, Climate School continues its mission of training and empowering young people. The competition specifically targets Arab university students because they are among the most engaged with today's global challenges and possess the ability to identify environmental issues within their communities while developing innovative, locally driven solutions.

Green in Arabic: Making Climate Knowledge Accessible to Everyone

In today's attention economy, reaching audiences and communicating knowledge through simple, engaging language has become one of the greatest challenges in creating meaningful impact.

Since its launch in 2022, Green in Arabic has adopted an approach centered on simplifying climate and environmental issues, transforming complex scientific concepts into accessible and inspiring Arabic content that connects global challenges with the everyday realities of Arab communities.

The platform's role extends well beyond publishing environmental news and reports. It has become a space for Generation Z, highlighting youth initiatives and innovative ideas in sustainability and climate action. In doing so, it has helped these initiatives gain wider visibility, introduced them to broader audiences, and turned them into inspiring models that can be replicated and scaled across the region.

Green in Arabic believes that young people are not merely audiences they are partners in producing knowledge and driving change. Giving them a platform to express their ideas is no longer a luxury; it is a necessity.
